Nestled in the vibrant heart of Monterey Park, P P Pop Taiwanese Noodle Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Taiwan with every dish. Specializing in Taiwanese cuisine, this cozy, unpretentious eatery brings together traditional flavors and a contemporary twist, making it a must-visit for noodle lovers and adventurous foodies alike.
From the moment you step inside, the inviting aroma of freshly prepared broths and sizzling dumplings sets the stage for a memorable culinary journey. The menu is a carefully curated showcase of Taiwanese favorites, highlighted by dishes like the Beef Roll Cake (牛肉卷饼)—crispy on the outside, tender and rich within, it’s a universal crowd-pleaser as echoed by loyal customers like Sophia Chen who describe it as their “HAVE TO order part.” Pair this with the Pork and Shrimp Pan Fried Dumplings, boasting a succulent filling and irresistibly crisp skin, and you’ve got an appetizer combination praised by many, including Hugo Calderon.
Diners with a penchant for spice will find themselves at home here. The mala spicy beef noodle soup (麻辣牛肉面) is a fiery masterpiece that balances bold heat with deep, savory flavors — a cautionary delight for those less tolerant to spice but a rewarding experience for thrill-seekers. For those seeking comforting warmth amid Monterey Park’s bustle, the xiao long bao (南翔小笼包) delivers delicate soup dumplings bursting with juicy richness, wrapped in thin, tender skins.
The menu’s diversity also shines with dishes like black pepper beef fried udon, offering a smoky, peppery edge to chewy noodles, and the house special fried rice (一条龙炒饭), a perfectly balanced blend of textures and layers of flavor that makes every bite unforgettable. A refreshing sip of their Mango Green Tea, praised for its genuine, fruity taste, rounds out the meal beautifully, cleansing the palate and cooling the senses.
While the portions are generous—which some may find hearty enough to serve as an entree themselves—the freshness and depth of flavor more than justify it. The dining atmosphere at P P Pop is intimate and lively, with a friendly buzz that speaks to its popularity among locals and visitors alike. As noted by Meilyng Hu, patience is rewarded here; despite occasional waits, the food’s quality and authenticity more than make up for it.
Whether you’re craving a comforting bowl of noodles, craving the satisfying crunch of their popcorn chicken appetizer, or eager to explore traditional Taiwanese street food flavors, P P Pop Taiwanese Noodle Restaurant promises a lively, flavorful experience that captures the essence of Taiwan’s rich culinary heritage. For those seeking genuine, bold tastes paired with attentive service in a casual setting, this gem on N Garfield Ave is an absolute delight.
So good! Everything is extremely fresh and tasty , especially the crispy beef roll , my HAVE TO order part, the only issue is too big portion , you can have it as entree . Recommendation:
Food was so good that we completely demolished everything. I would recommend getting the beef roll with the popcorn chicken as a appetizer it's super delicious and very crispy and flavorful. For my main we got the house special beef noodles soup and we got pork and shrimp fried dumplings and washed it all down with a big passion fruit drink. 100/10 would recommend this place if your looking for some good taiwanese food
We recently stopped by this restaurant for dinner and absolutely loved it! This is a small, cozy spot, so be prepared for a wait, it's popular for a reason! The menu is great, but a word of warning: they don't hold back on the heat! We ordered a few different items: the Pork Ramen, the Beef House Noodles and the Spicy beef ramen. Justo be careful if you can't handle the spice. One of the biggest highlights is the portion size. Everything here is huge! You certainly get your money's worth and will likely leave with leftovers. If you're looking for authentic, delicious, and generously portioned noodles (with a serious kick!), this is the spot.
Everything we had here was fantastic! I loved the mango iced tea because it actually tastes like mangos, the chicken was nice and crunchy on the outside, juice and delicious on the inside. We also had xiao baos and their dry noodles with peanut butter sauce which were both fantastic! I would recommend against getting their devils hot sauce unless you have like an amazing spice tolerance! I thought my spice tolerance was fine because i can handle tapatio and valentina easily but this sauce left me chugging my drink and feeling the chili under my tongue for hours!
Waited in the rain for about 40 minutes. Was glad this place didn't dissappoint. Beef Bowl, Dumplings, and Beef Noodles were really good. I got so full I couldn't try the Dan Dan Noodles or Spicy Beef Soup. Not pictures was the shrimp fried rice which was also tasty. Would come back again.
The popcorn chicken was super crispy, the pan fried steamed pork buns were crispy on the bottom, soft and juicy on the inside. The garlic bok choy was very flavorful for a single-veggie dish. The beef noodle soup was delightful, like a comforting middle ground between ramen, pho, and caldo de res. Definitely coming back. Sorry, we ate the food before taking pictures. The staff were efficient and not rude. In fact, they said “thank you” at every opportunity. Nice Chinese chill R&B playing. Restrooms were clean.
November 4th 2025: Came around lunch and it was packed. Got their popcorn chicken ($10) and Dan Dan noodles ($12) to go. The popcorn chicken box was stuffed with chicken and was super flavorful and crisp. Mostly got batter pieces tho. The Dan Dan noodles were super rich and creamy. Kinda oily too. Made me super swollen and bloated after eating. Very chewy and springy noodles tho. Portions are generous and prices are good.
All the foods I ordered were delicious & the service is A+ (keep up the great work) A must come to dine restaurant Definitely will come back to try other food items
